Rockin’ the River, Mystic Creatures and Hog Rally in Hot Springs

As is the norm, plenty is happening this week and beyond in Hot Springs. The new Mystic Creatures summer extravaganza is in place at Garvan Gardens. This exhibit showcases the art of topiary with several exciting bigger than life creatures created from childhood fantasies of magical creatures.
This project is a combined effort of the Gardens in-house design and fabrication teams and the Landscape Architecture Department in the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas. These groups studied design, plant materials and structural systems necessary to create the topiary structures. According to the Gardens website, “At up to 13 feet tall and covered in almost 20,000 plants, these sculptures are by far the most ambitious of their kind to ever appear in the Mid-South.” Some of the creatures featured are Fairy Gourdmother, Magical Sea Serpent, the ‘Shroom Family, a Fairy Village and Sasquatch. Children and adults are amazed by the magical creatures. The exhibit will be up throughout the summer until Aug. 31. For more information go online to www.garvangardens.org.
Also, the annual Hog Rally rides into town for the weekend June 5-7 with lots of events for motorcycle enthusiasts. The winding roads around Hot Springs are beautiful in the spring and offer lots of great riding adventure. Music, parades, bike games and parties are schedules throughout the weekend.
