whole town is getting into the holiday spirit and it seems almost every day we
have a wide array of events to attend. The hustle and bustle of December is
upon us and it certainly is an exhilarating time of year.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

music last season in <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b> was the ‘Voices

the concert that is performed annually, and it was a lovely afternoon of
magnificent music. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

is at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Muses Cultural Arts Center at 428 Orange St. and at
3 p.m. Dec. 14 at Anthony Chapel in Garvan Woodland Gardens. We attended the
Sunday matinee last year and felt as if we were in the presence of angels
singing holiday music. The musicians were incredibly talented and the choice of
music was quite angelic. The setting in the chapel at Garvan Gardens always
soothes my soul. The walls are made of glass and the surrounding woods are
picturesque. It is one of the most spiritual settings I’ve ever been in.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Add beautiful music
and you have the perfect setting to enjoy an afternoon in the chapel that is
guaranteed to put you into the Christmas spirit. This year the concert also
features ballet dancers from the Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theater who will perform
excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">After the ‘Voices of
Angels’ concert last year I was determined to make this an annual holiday
event. I came away with a renewed sense of hope and tranquility to begin the
Christmas season. Isn’t that what the holiday season is all about?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">

the “Voices of Angels” concert to anyone who wants to experience the peace and
love of the holiday season. I’d also like to invite you out to Diamondhead
Resort Community to see the beautiful natural area where we live. The
Diamondhead community includes homes and lots on Lake Catherine. We also have
homes and lots backing up to Lake Catherine State Park, the scenic golf course
and the woods with abundant wildlife. We have a beautiful place to live and
friendly people who enjoy a great lifestyle. Give us a call at 501.520.9201 or

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">I’m one of those
people who loves the holidays. This year we are in our new house in <b><i><u>Hot

grateful to have a wonderful family and friends to share the holidays with.
I’ve learned more about gratitude lately and how quickly changing my attitude
to be grateful in whatever situation I’m in changes my perspective. So I
challenge us all to look at life from a perspective of gratitude and truly
enjoy the holidays.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Garvan Gardens is one
of my favorite places to go take a walk. When we moved to Hot Springs about 15
months ago, one of the first things we did was buy a membership to the Gardens.
During the cooler months we walked the Gardens at least once a week. Now that
fall has arrived organized exercise events are also offered:<o:p></o:p></span></div>

time to go outside and get moving. In Hot Springs we have so many great places
to exercise either individually or as a group. At Diamonhead Resort Community
we also enjoy exercise on the golf course, in Aerobics and Strong Women and Men
classes, in the weight room, playing disc golf or just taking a walk around
Diamondhead. The air is crisp, the leaves are turning and the area is
beautiful. For more information on Diamondhead or to schedule a tour, give us a

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Last year my husband
and I attended many of the documentaries during the annual <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b> Documentary
Film Festival and we enjoyed every film we saw. We had no idea what to expect
and it far exceeded our expectations. We had so much fun picking which films we
wanted to see and trying to make the schedule work so that we saw as many of
the documentaries as possible.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">And, we’ll do it
again this year. Once again, this is an event that Hot Springs does well. The
films are national and international in scope and subject matter, and they are
very well done. They broadened our horizons and were the subjects for lots of
conversation. For more information and a schedule go online to www.hsdff.org.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh66NuV5CRgevEIcj8VLPseDiSFZrfyyCXpIpbJEcO8bfk6YUd0H6VLvB2cAL_-90BNFD-udtqVr-5rqq1d7aNBRbYuySWVR6mxFS8djrp36Q2w7Zl5_sZC0AJHvpJX0PcVecBPc6lyD-0o/s1600/sports1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh66NuV5CRgevEIcj8VLPseDiSFZrfyyCXpIpbJEcO8bfk6YUd0H6VLvB2cAL_-90BNFD-udtqVr-5rqq1d7aNBRbYuySWVR6mxFS8djrp36Q2w7Zl5_sZC0AJHvpJX0PcVecBPc6lyD-0o/s1600/sports1.jpg" height="320" width="206" /></a><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">So, I highly
recommend attending as much of the Film Festival as possible. This year it
takes place Oct.10-19 at the Arlington Hotel and Low Key Arts. On opening night
the featured film is “Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me.” The movie will be screened at 6:15 p.m.
followed by a Q&A with Director and Producer James Keach, Producer Trevor
Albert and members of the Campbell family including Kim Campbell and children
Ashley, Cal and Shannon.</span></div>

<o:p></o:p><br />

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The featured

look around at our relaxing and fun lifestyle. We are a safe gated community
situated near Lake Catherine State Park with many homes on Lake Catherine. Our
golf course is beautiful and challenging with homes on the course. The fall
leaves are beginning to turn and the scenery is beautiful. Give us a call at
501.520.9201 or 501.262.9310 and we’ll be glad to arrange a tour of
Diamondhead. We’re a short drive from Downtown <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b>.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Chihuly Exhibit at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock twice from <b><i><u>Hot
Springs</u></i></b>, and I’m not through yet. This impressive collection of the
famous glass artist Dale Chihuly is outstanding and certainly worth a trip to
Little Rock. The exhibition will be at the Presidential Center until Jan. 5,
2015.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> The artist has an international reputation
as being the finest glass artist alive today and he is credited with changing
the perception of the glass medium from craft to fine art. He has architectural
installations around the world in historic cities, museums and gardens. His
presentation of color, shape and form is outstanding.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> Chihuly knew President Bill Clinton
during his years as president and the Clintons gave presidential gifts of
Chihuly blown glass to dignitaries from other countries. And so the partnership
continues with the fabulous exhibition at the Presidential Center.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> One of the advantages of living
in <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b> is the availability of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods,
meat and chicken and much more at the Farmers Market. The Market is open all
year on Saturday mornings near Historic Downtown Hot Springs. In the summer we
have the added advantage of the market on Tuesday nights.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> Not only is the home-grown produce
healthy, but just going down to the Farmers Market to shop is lots of fun. The
vendors are hard-working Arkansans who know their products and enjoy talking
with the customers and answering questions. They’re eager to share their
knowledge and will usually have a good recipe to share for preparing their produce.
Besides vegetables and fruit, customers will find local honey, jams and
jellies, fresh baked bread and sweets, soaps and lotions, jewelry, t-shirts, fresh
herbs, flowers, eggs, knife sharpening and much more.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> Also, on Saturday and most Tuesday
nights a local musician or group is entertaining visitors at the Market while
they shop. An added bonus to all the fun is the health benefit from eating
local produce; some of it is organically grown. Beef, pork and chicken are
available and grown on local Arkansas farms, and the difference in taste is
amazing.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> The Market started in the mid1970s,
but the location of the modern-day Market began in 1995 near the Transportation
Depot in Historic Downtown at Orange and Broadway Streets. In 2006 Hot Springs
received a grant along with additional donations, to build the open-air
pavilion, which is now home of the Hot Springs Farmers Market. It has since
become a leading farmers market receiving state and national recognition. It
incorporates landscaping by the local master gardeners and a state of the art
Cairn Fountain designed by Bennett Brothers Stone. For more information go
online to www.hotspringsfarmersmarket.com. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;"> Hot Springs has a great place to
shop and visit at the Farmers Market. It is such a treasured asset to our
community. Another community to visit in Hot Springs is Diamondhead Resort
Community. The people who live in Diamondhead enjoy the amenities of Lake
Catherine, a great golf course affordably priced, an Olympic-size swimming
pool, tennis courts, children’s playground and the Nineteenth Hole, a great
place to grab a bite to eat and visit with neighbors. We’d love to show you
around and answer any questions about the great life-style at Diamondhead. Give
us a call at 501.520.9201 or 501.262.9310 and we’ll schedule a tour for you and
your family. Just like the <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b> Farmers Market, Diamondhead has lots of friendly
people eager to help out their neighbors.</span></div>

this week and beyond in <b><i><u>Hot Springs</u></i></b>. The new Mystic

showcases the art of topiary with several exciting bigger than life creatures
created from childhood fantasies of magical creatures. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 200%;"> This project is a combined effort of
the Gardens in-house design and fabrication teams and the Landscape
Architecture Department in the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the
University of Arkansas. These groups studied design, plant materials and
structural systems necessary to create the topiary structures. According to the
Gardens website, “At up to 13 feet tall and covered in almost 20,000 plants,
these sculptures are by far the most ambitious of their kind to ever appear in
the Mid-South.” Some of the creatures featured are Fairy Gourdmother, Magical
Sea Serpent, the ‘Shroom Family, a Fairy Village and Sasquatch. Children and
adults are amazed by the magical creatures. The exhibit will be up throughout
the summer until Aug. 31. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%;"> Our good neighbors and friends at
Garvan Gardens will have a Tulip Extravaganza April 1-30 with a show of 135,000
beautiful tulips in the Gardens. As we speak, the first tulips are popping up
and before we know it (and, hopefully no more really cold days) the dramatic
floral display, which is always breathtaking, will be alive with color across
acres of the Gardens. This is a spectacle not to be missed.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">

in Spring but the Tulip Extravaganza is extraordinary. When the warm weather
stays around for awhile the profusion of tulips will peak from the ground
quickly. The Gardens say it is the biggest display of spring color between
Dallas and Memphis. Doesn’t that just make you want to plan a weekend retreat
just to see the tulips?<o:p></o:p></span></div>

time of year is certainly a treat, but the tulips are always a favorite.
Hyacinths, daffodils, new foliage on the Japanese Maples, spring wildflowers
and perennials are in bloom now. Later in April, hundreds of red, pink, violet
and white azaleas, and thousands of dogwood blossoms will be the area of
attraction.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%;"> An event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. March
22 at the Gardens, in addition to the Extravaganza, includes “Tulip Time,” a
drop-in family program to learn about the gorgeous flowers and make a handmade
craft to take home. For more information, call 501.262.9300.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%;">At Diamondhead we love to stroll Garvan
Gardens to enjoy the beauty of the area and for exercise, and the tulips are
truly a sight to behold. We also love that the Gardens are our close neighbor
and a great place not only to visit but also to volunteer. The flowers are
beginning to bloom at Diamondhead also and the spring activities are starting
to kick-in. Golfers are hitting the course during the warm days. Lake Catherine
is now filled and ready for spring fishing and summer boating. We have a great
place to live and call home. We’d love to have you check us out. Give us a call
